Authorities in northeast Florida are hunting for a little girl who disappeared early Tuesday morning, using dogs in their search and interviewing anyone who might know what happened to her.
An Amber Alert was issued for Haleigh Cummings, 5, who lives with her father and his girlfriend in Putnam County.
Haleigh was reported missing after her father's girlfriend discovered the child wasn't in her bed about 3:30 a.m., police said.
The woman told police that the door to the home was not locked at the time, Nettles said.
Sgt. Jason Nettles of the Putnam County Sheriff's Department told FOXNews.com that Haleigh is 5, clearing up earlier conflicting reports.
He said he didn't have information on whether or not the little girl's father or his girlfriend were suspects in her disappearance.
"I don't know that for sure," he told FOXNews.com. He said he believed they were being questioned by police, along with others at the scene.
Several registered sex offenders reportedly live in the vicinity of the missing girl's home in Satsuma, Fla. Nettles said he couldn't confirm whether authorities were worried a sex offender might have abducted Haleigh.
"I don't think they've ruled anything out," he said.
He declined to comment on one report that put the number of registered sex offenders nearby at 25 because he said he didn't know how wide an area was being considered.
Haleigh is 3 feet tall with blond hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a pink shirt.
Anyone with information about the girl is urged to contact the Putnam County Sheriff's Office at (386) 329-0800 or 911.

I automatically thought of Trenton when this story broke. Obviously, this time, Mom's not involved. I don't think Dad's involved either.

I can't believe another child is missing in Florida. God, please protect Haleigh.
I do however, have the worst feeling the 17 year girl friend is involved in some way. I hope I'm wrong, I pray they find her.

I have a feeling that the 17 year old girlfriend/babysitter is involved too. Paranoia or just protective "mothering" feelings? Can't say why I feel so strong that girl is involved but I won't be surprised if she is.

I'm watching the father and this 17 year old girl on the rerun of Greta. Something is up with both of them.
If she discovered Haleigh missing at 10PM, why did she wait until 3AM for the father to come home to call 911.
And George Anthony should butt out and leave these people alone. He's telling them he, Cindy and Lee are there for him. Yea right, where were they for Caylee?? Certainly not out searching.

Misty Croslin, the 17 year old, keeps changing her story, but supporters are tallying it up to her being "stressed" that Haleigh was missing. That's why she didn't call 911 right away. What made steam come out of my ears was a guest on NG saying you know how it is when your dog is missing first you go out searching for it then you call the authorities...I was like WHAT? Now I love my dog, everyone knows how much I love my dog, but if my CHILD went missing I'd be screaming up and down the block WHILE I was on the phone with 911, and I think any responsible parent (except Casey Anthony) would do the same for their child. Misty said that Haleigh was like a daughter to her. I know I wouldn't go doing that for my dog. Anyway, first Ms. Croslin says Haleigh was in bed with her, then no, she was in another room, then no, she was in another bed in the same room as her, then she said she didn't know Haleigh was missing until 3am and didn't call 911 because she was waiting for the daddy to get home, then she said she put the child to bed at 8 pm, then 10 pm...I can understand people being stressed with the authorities crawling down your throat, and she's really just a kid herself, but hell, can you stick to the same story? I mean, come on, the door was locked, the child wasn't sleeping by the door so it must have been someone who knew where the child was sleeping. But what can I say? I'm a light sleeper and I have a wonderful alarm system called ROTT that barks the minute anyone comes near the door. Maybe Ms. Croslin is a heavy sleeper. In any event, the father, mother, and girlfriend all seem to be a few nachos short of a deluxe order, so all we can do is pray this little girl gets home safely with no harm done.
