Two of the West Memphis 3 appeared in court today. Jason Baldwin and Jessie Misskelley are asking for new trials claiming they did not have adequate assistance during their first trial in 1994. A private investigator hired to help in the case, Ron Lax, told the judge he did do enough for the case. He claimed he wanted to do DNA testing, but was told there was not enough money. Lax also said there were more witnesses he could have interviewed, but did not for fear he would not get compensated for all the hours he was putting into the case. Baldwin told KARK outside the courtroom today there were aspects of the investigation he is learning for the first time during these hearings. The hearings are expected to continue on Monday. Baldwin, Misskelley, and Damien Echols are convicted of murdering three 8 year olds in 1993. arkansasmatters.com/content/fulltext/news/?cid=118991

Well...when the new investigative teams recently uncovered hair from JohnMark Beyers in the knot of shoestring that was binding the one little boys hands, I was stoked! The DNA testing abilities which have advanced so much over the last 20 years could put JMB at the scene. That alone should be able to bring up 'reasonable doubt'. Last I heard The Innocence Project was involved. If they have to remain incarcerated thats bad, but I don't want Echols to be put to death until they know for sure. JMB gave that knife to the producer of the HBO show and it had human blood on it, and at the time they could not compare it through DNA because of the lack of ability to multiply and amplify the sample. I hope this can be accomplished through scientific advancements. JMB is a deviant, guilty prick and the fact he walks among us is the real crime here! Ugh I shudder when I see him! (You know, even his ex-wife thinks he had something to do with killing her son)
